What we collect
- Your email address, when you join the free newsletter list.
- Campaign details attached to the link you arrived from, such as utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term and ref, plus the page you landed on and the referring site. These are stored in your browser and sent with your signup so we know which posts and campaigns bring readers.
- Basic security data. Your IP address is used briefly to limit abuse of the signup and contact forms. These rate limit records expire within about an hour.
- Messages you send through the contact form, including the name and email you enter.
- Meta Pixel, only when enabled. If we run advertising on Facebook or Instagram, we may enable the Meta Pixel and Conversions API to measure whether an ad led to a signup. When it is enabled, Meta receives information about your visit and the signup event. It is not active today, and this page will be updated before it is turned on.
We do not use other third party analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we never sell your information.
Why we collect it
To send you the newsletter and related updates, to understand which content and campaigns work, to keep the site secure, and to answer your messages.
How long we keep it
Your signup is kept while you remain on the list. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it within 30 days. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to respond.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare hosts this site and stores signups and messages.
- Substack will deliver the newsletter once it launches. Your email will be passed to Substack to subscribe you, and Substack’s own privacy policy then applies.
- Meta receives the data described above only if the Meta Pixel is enabled for advertising.
Your choices
Every newsletter email includes a one click unsubscribe link. To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, send a request through our contact form using the email address you signed up with. We will act on it within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
