There is no government donation and no passport for sale; it is residence, not citizenship. DGM costs are RD$51,800 for an adult, and the investment must stay in place at renewal.

USD figures use the Banco Central de la República Dominicana reference selling rate of RD$60.9007 per US dollar for 29 October 2026, as shown on its home page on the verification date, rounded to the cent.

Worked example

  • A couple with a child aged 12 investing US$200,000 (RD$12,180,140) into an S.R.L.: visas 3 × US$250 = US$750 (RD$45,675.53); DGM 2 × RD$51,800 + RD$49,700 = RD$153,300 (US$2,517.21), as the DGM sheet charges the child exam rate under age 13. Lawyer, translations, the guarantee policy and company costs are extra.

Step by step

  1. Pick the vehicle and enter funds through the banking system.
  2. Register the investment with ProDominicana.
  3. Obtain the investment certification.
  4. Apply for RS visas at the consulate.
  5. Enter, and go to the DGM within 30 days.
  6. Get the Letter of Incorporation to the program.
  7. File with the Foreign Investment Division and take exams.
  8. Obtain the card and cédula.
  9. Keep the investment documented for renewals.

Common traps

  • The term is 45 working days in Ley 171-07 and an older English sheet, but 90 working days on the current Spanish sheet.
  • Older sheets show RD$30,000 and RD$37,000. Those amounts predate the 2023 tariff.
  • The renewal amount of RD$25,000 was seen in the DGM page summary only, not in a full capture of the page.
  • A property purchase alone is not listed in art. 55. Check with the DGM before relying on one.
  • Letting the registration lapse or pulling capital can cost the residence under art. 58.
  • A company that wants staff in the same window needs the program letter too.
